Table 6.59—DRM_Colour_Shininess

Property

Description

Superclass

·         <DRM SEDRIS Abstract Base>

Class

·         <DRM Colour Shininess>

Subclass

·         none

Definition

An object of this DRM class specifies the specular coefficient that determines how shiny a color is to appear based on the angle between lines from the observer to the colored object to the light source.

Example(s)

·         Consider an Out-the-Window (OTW) <DRM Colour Table>, whose entries are intended for use in representing metallic surfaces. Each <DRM Primitive Colour> in the table is defined by a <DRM Specular Colour> and an DRM_Ambient Color.

Depending on the angles between the observer, the metallic surface, and the light source, the shininess of each <DRM Specular Colour> will vary. Hence, each <DRM Specular Colour> in the table is given a <DRM Color Shininess> component, if the corresponding metal is sufficiently reflective.
